Error (older versions): The Jet activation token is corrupt

Note: this article refers to Jet Essentials 2013 through 2015.  For newer versions see this article

When starting Excel, you get an error stating "The Jet activation token is corrupt.  Please reactivate your Jet license."

It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you upgrade to the latest release of Jet Reports to resolve this issue.

If that is not possible, the following steps should temporarily help.

There is an issue with the file that keeps track of your Jet licensing information.  You will need to remove that file and then reactivate Jet Essentials using the following steps:

First of all, we recommend that you update your installation to the latest release of Jet Essentials
Close Excel completely (ensure that no EXCEL.EXE processes are running in the Windows Task Manager)
Open Windows Explorer and type %appdata% in the address bar

(or type %appdata% in the Start Menu run bar)

***  If ( and only IF ) you are using a version of Jet Essentials prior to version 14.0.13276, change to the "Local" folder rather than the "Roaming" folder.
See instructions at the bottom of this article

Open the Jet Reports folder
Delete ONLY the 'activation.token' file

Close Windows Explorer

Start Excel (if you receive an error, press 'OK')
If you are prompted to reactivate your license, follow the prompts.

Otherwise...  From the Jet ribbon, click on 'Help' and select 'Activate Jet License' and then select "Actviate Online (recommended)'.

Your installation of Jet Essentials should now be ready to use.

If (and only IF) you are using a version of Jet Essentials 2013 or 2013U1 earlier than version v14.0.13276, you will need to change the the "Local" rather than the "Roaming" folder to find the Activation token file.

Proceed with the next step as show above
