errorRPC.png

Complete text of error message is:

Error creating enhancements!
Connecting to the Integration Services service on the computer "{computer name}" failed with the following error: "The RPC server is unavailable".

This error occurs when the computer host name does not exist, or cannot be reached.

Cause:

This error message is displayed when the computer hosting the SSIS instance is unavailable.  Typically, this error will present itself because of firewall settings on the remote machine that is hosting SSIS.

Resolution

Go through the following steps and ensure that each is setup correctly.

  1. Ensure that the named instance for the server is spelled correctly for each connection (i.e. Source, Stage, DWH)
  2. If SSIS is hosted on a separate server, ensure that the Firewall is not what is blocking the connection.
    1. Please read the Technet article on how to 'Disable the Remote Administration Firewall Rule' for more information.
    2. For additional walk-through information on the firewall configuration, please see 'RPC Server Unavailable - Windows Firewall Configuration'
