HI,
Our users are using the RTC only (no Classic client installed on their workstations).
When trying to set up Jet Express you are required to enter the Dynamics NAV client folder and I think it's looking finsql.exe
Can Jet Express be used in this scenario?
Cheers

Because NAV's C/Front utility (which handles communications between NAV and other applications) only communicates with the Classic Client, that client must be installed.
The users, of course, can continue to use the RTC. They simply have to have the Classic installed as well. -
Jet Reports Historic Posts That's unfortunate.
We are using NAV in a hosted environment (NAV server is hosted in our datacentre and all clients use the RTC from remote offices) so Jet will not work for us.
What are your intentions when Microsoft stop Classic support (if they haven't already)?

I'm a little confused. All that would be needed to allow you to utilize Jet Express would be to install the Classic Client & the NAV SDK (along with the RTC) on the remote workstations.
I know that sjl4782 plans on answering your question about C/Front.

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi Red,
Microsoft will be ending support for the classic Client (C/side) with NAV V7 according to their statement of directions (dated feb 2010). When this version is introduced Jet Express will be compliant so there will be no lack of coverage.
Best regards,

Our NAV server is not local to us. It is based in our data centre.
The latest version of NAV 2009 R2 allows remote access via the the RTC client.
This is not possible in the Classic client due to user authentication issues.

Also, no user has or requires the classic client. Why do users need it?

Jet Reports Historic Posts Thanks for the clarification, Red.
You are right. Since Jet Express requires the use of the NAV's C/Front utility, and C/Front requires the use of the Classic Client, it would not be possible to use Jet Express in the environment you describe.

Jet Reports Historic Posts With the release of NAV V7, Jet Express features will utilize the updated NAV architecture and eliminate all reliance on C/Front. This will work in the software + services environment described here.
