Hi,
I saw there is a procedure for Jet Essentials for connecting to Azure already. However, I wanted to know if Jet Express is supported for Azure, and if so, any procedure?
The first step is to take a data source that is universal, but that step is not available for Jet Express from what I can see.

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hello Garfunko,
This would depend on where Excel and NAV are located and if you are extending your domain to Azure.
The best setup is to have Excel/NAV/SQL on Azure so that you can connect via an RDP and ensure that Excel has a direct connection to SQL.
This is the easiest and fastest connection as it will allow you to utilize the "Dynamics NAV 2013 and later (SQL Server)" Data Source type.

If Excel is on the local PC and the domain is not extended to Azure then you would need to configure a NAV instance with NAV User Password or UserName Authentication and use the "Dynamics NAV 2013 and later (Web Services)" Data Source type.
The Jet Data Source Settings would need to be configured with the matching authentication method and credentials.

NavUserPassword - With this setting, authentication is managed by Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server but is not based on Windows users or Active Directory. The user is prompted for username/password credentials when they start the client. The credentials are then validated by an external mechanism. Security certificates are required to protect the passing of credentials. This mode is intended for hosted environments, for example, where Microsoft Dynamics NAV is implemented in Azure.
UserName - With this setting, the user is prompted for username/password credentials when starting the RoleTailored client. These credentials are then validated against Windows authentication by Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server. There must already be a corresponding user in Windows. Security certificates are required to protect the passing of credentials across a wide-area network. This setting should typically be used when the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server computer is part of an authenticating Active Directory domain, but the computer where the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client is installed is not part of the domain.

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi,
Thanks for the reply. so the configuration is the following:
Local machine using " Jet Express" is out of the azure domain. No link to the Azure domain.
The authentication used for NAV 2015 is NavUserPassword.
The procedures you linked are all for Jet Essentials, not express. Is Express supported under this type of setup, and if so, any configuration guides to follow? -
Jet Reports Historic Posts Hello Garfunko,
The configuration of the Data Source is the same for Jet Express and Jet Essentials.
The NAV Business Objects for Jet Express are located here:
http://download.jetreports.com/installation/Current%20Release/Jet%20Express%20for%20Dynamics%20NAV/Jet%20Reports%20Objects.zip
The configuration instructions (specifically for Jet Express, though they are the same for Jet Essentials) are located here:

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hello MWilson
I'm a colleague of Garfunko and I'm trying on my part to resolve this problem with him.
Is it possible for you to have a help session with us so that we can look further into this problem ? -
Jet Reports Historic Posts Hello pparent,
Unfortunately I am not able to assist with this configuration via a GoToMeeting.
I would be happy to offer advice as to any errors you are receiving, but configuring NAV instances, security certificates and certificate thumbprints is out of the realm of my expertise.
This is something that your Microsoft Dynamics NAV partner should be able to assist you with configuring.
Best regards,

Jet Reports Historic Posts Did you find a solution?
I have the same problem
Jet Express can´t connect to a NAV DB on Azure -
Jet Reports Historic Posts Hello pxttyh,
Jet Reports does have many clients connecting with both Jet Express and Jet Essentials to NAV 2015 hosted on Azure.
As I noted previously in the post if you are using Excel/Jet Express from your local PC rather than in the Azure hosted environment via RDP you would need to configure a "Dynamics NAV 2013 and later (Web Services)" Data Source with NAV User Password Authentication.
The NAV Business Objects for Jet Express are located here:
http://download.jetreports.com/installa … bjects.zip
The configuration instructions (specifically for Jet Express, though they are the same for Jet Essentials) are located here:

If you are connecting via an RDP to the Azure hosted environment and have Excel/Jet Express then you can utilize the "Dynamics NAV 2013 and later (SQL Server)" Data Source.

Configuring Jet Essentials for the Dynamics NAV 2013 SQL Server Connector: http://kb.jetreports.com/article/AA-00902
There is a third option which was recently released specifically for hosted environments called the "Jet Remote Data Service" Data Source.
This requires a valid SSL certificate and an IIS hosted site on the Azure environment.
