Reports don't show values when running in Scheduler

I'm updated from an older version of Jet Reports to Jet Professional 2018.

My reports now don't show values if the run by scheduler.

 

Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365 Business, Jet Professional 2018

I got a lot of reports running well if started mannually (Refresh), but they don't show values if started by scheduler. Also if I use the scheduler window and start the task manually no values are shown.

  Hello Franz -

  The log file you included indicates that an issue is being experienced during the run of the report.  This would prevent the report from being able to complete and would explain what you are describing.

  Since you state that your reports do complete when run manually, you may first want to ensure that all necessary permissions for running scheduled tasks have been assigned to the account under which the Windows Task Scheduler is running.

  If you then still experience an issue, I would suggest submitting a support request.

  thank you for your comment.

  I already checked the permissions and that seems ok.

   

  I did a download of some of the sample reports and they work manually and also in scheduler.

  My existing reports (based on older Exccel 2007 version) don't work. Also some simple new reports I generated in the new environment dont work in the scheduler.

  What I noticed is, that the sample reports use the NL("Table"; xxxxxxx) function to fetch the records from the database.

  I use the NL("Line"; xxxxxx) function and this seems to be the problem. If I use one of the sample report, add a sheet and use the NL("Line"; xxxxx) function this sheet also doesn't get the values.

  Manually refreshed the reports all work fine, but not in scheduler.

  I have the same issue with Jet 18 (wIn 10, O365) and scheduled reports wich will show formulas instead of values.

  • Manually refresh the report; OK
  • Planned refresh the report; NOPE

  After going back to Jet 17 no problems anymore, with no adjustments to the reports or tasks.

  

  Jet Reports says that they cannot re-produce the issue, but are testing scheduled reports sinds November 16th

  Could you run a test for me using Jet 2018?

  Create this report:

  

  and save it as SchedTest.XLSX

  Then, schedule that report:

  

  To run (unattended) a few minutes in the future.  

  Once you have saved the scheduled task, close Excel and wait for the task to run.

  Once the task runs, start Excel and open the output file.

  What does it look like?

  After several failed attempts to update the existing server ( Office 2007 -> Office 2013, Older Jet Reports Version -> Jet Professional 2017) so the scheduler works, I decided to start with a completely new installation of the reporting server.

  New VM, Windows 7 ( sufficient to run a few scheduled reports)

  Office 2016, Jet Professional 2018

  After configuring data sources and scheduler tasks my reports run well now without any problems.

  It seems the problems in calculating scheduled reports were caused by my attempts of uninstalling and reinstalling the different releases of Office and Jet Professional.   

  New clean installation of the reporting server solved the problems.

  Hello Franz,

  Admittedly, this can become an issue when a single machine has gone through different versions of Office upgrades and Jet upgrades.

  What we generally recommend when planning an upgrade to Office/Excel, is to ensure that Jet is completely uninstalled prior to any changes to Office/Excel and in doing so, you can ensure that all registry entries are removed for Jet as they have been associated to a specific version of Excel.

  In other cases, we would also recommend a full/online repair of Office after an upgrade without Jet being present on the machine.

  Hi Cynthia,

  What i have done:

  • I just downloaden the latest relaese of Jet Pro 18 ( 18.0.17321.0 ) 
  • Un-installed old Jet 17
  • installed new Jet
  • Created SchedTest.xslx
  • Planned the Jet
  • Executed un-attended

  Everything gone well, but... now real life reports ...

  • the issue with Formulas instead of Values only did not happen again 

  There is a catch.....

  Many of my reports uses Sheets, and that's where it's going the wrong way.

  While designing a reports you have to test if it's an ok report, so also the sheets are made while test-run the report. If you go back to the Designer the sheets keeps to have the same name as reported.

  Example:

  While designing you name a sheet Report, but because i'm using Sheets it will be renamed to let's say Company-X Name while test-reporting. Then if it look ok i will save the report and schedule it.

  Next wile manual- or with a scheduled reports the name changes from Company-X to Company-X (2)

  You can simply test this by using the jet function NL("Sheets","Company","Name") <<< translated from dutch

  Another day, and i'm seeing formulas again with batch reports ( only 40 of them, so upcoming hours i know what to do )

  

  I have removed Jet 18 (again) and downgraded to 17

  I just upgraded to Jet 18 last night and I am experiencing this same exact issue.  I'm ready to downgrade to 17, but I'm worried about the database used for the admin console and the web portal.  Can I downgrade to 17 without any issues or will I have to start with a fresh database and reconfigure my admin console?

  Hello David -

  If you are experiencing the NL(Sheets) issue, this was resolved in release 18.0.17342.2.  You can download the latest version to get that fix.

  If, on the other hand, you have another issue, I would recommend sending a request to the Jet Support Team.

  Same problem here. After upgrading from 17 to 18, batch reports seems to ignore the /m "VALUES" parameter! version: 18.0.17362.4

  Raik - I had to go back to 17.  Even after upgrading to the most recent version (18.0.17342.2) and working through a support ticket, I was unable to resolve the issue.  The only thing that worked was downgrading to 17.

  Hi David and Raik,

  For me the following, temporary, un-logical solution worked:

  -----------------

  Can you please test the following.
  Log into the computer as the user listed as the "Creator" of your Jet Scheduler tasks.
  Open Excel > Jet > Application Settings > Performance > and disable 'Enable batch function execution'.
  Run the task to see if the same issues occur.
