Overview
The Jet ribbon provides you with access to all functionality of the Jet Excel add-in.
Mode and Report
Go to Design
Design mode is used to create reports. In Design mode, Jet function results are optimized for speed and are not guaranteed to bring back correct results.
Run
Refreshes your report and enters Report mode but clears all cached function results prior to running the report data. This may make the report take longer to complete, but will guarantee that the most current database results are returned.
Run from Cache
Refreshes your report using any data that was retrieved from a prior running of the report. This can result in a faster process than using the Run button - and is especially useful when non of the underlying data in the database has changed since the last run.
Run in Background
Runs the report while allowing you to continue working in Excel (without having to first wait for your report to complete).
Drilldown
To perform a drilldown, click the down arrow button that appears next to any cell containing a Jet function for which drilldown is possible, or select the cell and click Drilldown on the Jet ribbon.
By default, a data source for Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 and earlier will drill down into the Dynamics NAV classic client. If a you wish to use the Drilldown Grid instead, open the Data Source Settings window and select the data source for which to use the Drilldown Grid. On the General page, in the Drilldown group, select Use the Jet Reports data grid.
Check Error (formerly known as Debug)
Check Error helps diagnose problems with Jet functions. When a Jet function results in an error, #VALUE! will appear in the worksheet cell containing the function. To debug the function, select the cell containing the error and choose Check Error. A message that helps explain the problem will be displayed.
Unlock (available in Report Mode)
Unprotects all protected rows, columns, and sheets in the workbook and restores Jet functions without entering Design mode.
Unhide (available in Report Mode)
Makes all hidden rows, columns, and sheets in the workbook visibile without entering Design mode.
Purge Cache
Clears all cached Jet function results, which guarantees that the most current database results are returned when the report is run.
Tools
Jet Function Wizard (Jfx)
Provides an intuitive way for users to insert Jet functions into a worksheet.
Fast Financials
Provides a fast drag-and-drop interface for creating reports based on the NAV General Ledger.
Report Options
Provides a simple interface for creating the structure for prompting the user of the report for those report parameters needed to customize each run of the report.
Report Wizard
Provides an intuitive way for users to insert Jet functions into a worksheet.
Table Builder
The Table Builder creates an Excel table (from one or more database tables) which can be used as the basis for pivot tables and charts.
Browser
The Browser makes your reports easier and faster to design by providing drag and drop functionality.
Snippets
Snippets are small, reusable report parts that can be shared between Jet users. (see video)
Pivot Table
Inserts an OLAP Pivot Table to the current workbook. Options are provided for specifying the Cube data source, cube, and location of the pivot table on the current or new worksheet.
Pivot Chart
Inserts an OLAP Pivot Table and corresponding Pivot Chart to the current workbook. Options are provided for specifying the Cube data source, cube, and location of the pivot table and pivot chart on the current or new worksheet.
Update Data Sources
Updates the data source for an OLAP Pivot Table (and the corresponding Pivot Chart, if one is present) that exists within the current workbook to a different Cube data source.
Quote
The Tools menu provides operations to help you build embedded functions quickly. The Quote or Quote Global options convert the format of a function in a cell to a string. The Unquote option converts the string back to a function.
User Data
Normally any changes made in Report mode will be lost when you re-run the report or switch to Design mode. User Data provides a way to preserve data added in Report mode. See also: Advanced User Data
Upload
Writes user data to XML and launches Dynamics NAV to upload the data using the default data source.
Purge then Report
Purge then Report purges any data that you have stored for the particular workbook and then runs the report.
Purge then Refresh
Purge then Refresh purges any data that you have stored for the particular workbook and then refreshes the report.
Purge then Design
Purge then Design purges any data that you have stored for the workbook and then enters design mode.
Jet Hub
Upload
