Error: Please specify a drilldown server in the data source settings – Support Topics

This issue applies to data source connections to Dynamics NAV 2013 and higher

When attempting to perform a drilldown, an error message is displayed

Complete text of error message is:

Please specify a drilldown server in the data source settings.

Cause:

This is an error returned by Dynamics NAV when it is unable to locate the Dynamics NAV RoleTailored Client (RTC).

When using the RTC for drilldown, you must specify provide the name of both the RTC Server and the RTC instance in your Data Source Settings.

You may need to contact your system administration to get this information.
For those installations not using the RTC, the Jet Drilldown settings can, instead, be configured to use the Jet Data Grid or the Dynamics NAV Web Client.
