Correcting 'Corrupt' Workbooks

Tip:

The process known as "Round Tripping" can remove links and other hidden formatting history within an Excel Worksheet.  This procedure may be used if you have a corrupt workbook.  It may also be used if the workbook is not converting to Values after the report has been run.

Procedure:

  1. Open the file, and perform a Save as using the XML Spreadsheet 2003 (*.xml) format:

    xml.png

  2. Close Excel, restart Excel, and open the file you just saved with the .xml extension

  3. Perform a Save As using the Excel Workbook (*.xlsx) format:

    xlsx.png

  4. Close Excel, restart Excel, and reopen the newly-saved workbook
