combine 2 tables- invoices & cr.memos

I've seen a solution of using 2 lines for invoices & credit memos, but in my report I have additional groupings.
First by Salesperson & then by Product Group Code.
The 'Rebates in Progress' report seems pretty good, but how do I select both tables in the 'upper' levels?
