As a new user, I am just wondering if you can tell me what the "NL" in the NL function stands for? NP? NF? (I assume GL is general ledger)
Is there a quick and dirty summary of when it is best to use each function and to optimize the report structure (processing time etc.)
Thanks.

Jet Reports Historic Posts - NL() = Link. This is where you make the "Link" to the database record.
NF() = Field. You get the "field" from the record.
NP() = polymath (or utility), Jet Reports orginally wanted to use NU(), however, this translated in Dutch to the Excel Now() function, so it was changed to NP(). This is for all non-database related functions.
GL() = General Ledger. Link to General Ledger only.
Triva: Did you know Jet Reports was orginally called GL Link and the GL() was written long before the NL, NF, and NP functions.
As to optimization of reports, I would start with this article here on the support site (registration required).
