Hi everyone.
We're looking at establishing a reporting environment, seperate from our NAV SQL database. The theory is taking load of the NAV sever, centralising reports and possible being able to script index creation to speed up jet reports, where we wouldn't have otherwise created that index in a 'live' environment.
I would be interested to here if anybody here has any thoughts on reporting environments, particularly with a Jet focus.

I'm not sure if I got you right, but the "datawarehouse" word came to my mind when I read this. Did I get your idea right?
Unfortunately I can't help you with SQL databases.
I did some things in the past from within NAV - with dataports to export data from a huge NAV table into another database. We added a table in NAV where we kept track on what was exported already (e.g. with the item ledger entry no.) so we knew where to start next time with the export.
You will need the Universal connector if you want to read the data from a non-NAV database.
