I am attempting to create a financial report that will update by date. Is there a way to enter a date range (posting date) in a filter of sorts that will update the entire spreadsheet?

Yes, there is. You can enter a date range into a cell and then reference that cell from all the formulas on the spreadsheet. Maybe I'm missing something in what you're trying to do. If so, please explain more fully.
