Hi all,
I would like to know if anybody has encountered NAV 2013 services stopped when trying to refresh Jet reports?
I have few occurances whereby the NAV services were stopped and we had to re-start the services back. The worst occurance was that the server would even 'hang' and we had to restart the server.
It would specially occur when 2 or more users tried to refresh different reports at the same time.
We had Jet Essentials 2012 R2 12.5.13072.0 installed on Excel 2010.
I noticed we never had such problems when we were on NAV 2009 or NAV 2009 R2.
It was until Jet reports start incoporating web services. Performance was also slower than the prior versions.
A report would take 9 secs to finish refreshing in NAV 2009 while it will take about 40 secs to refresh in NAV 2013.
Appreciate feedbacks and suggestions if you run into the same situation with me.
Thanks

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi,
You've raised several different problems there. One problem is the fragility of the NAV 2013 web services and their tendency to crash or hang. I believe Jet has alerted Microsoft to this problem, and hopefully they are looking into it. For now, I would recommend running multiple instances of the NAV 2013 service tier, so if one goes down it does not affect NAV RTC users.
In terms of Jet performance, this is currently being worked on and improvements are definitely being made for Jet 2013, which is currently in beta. It is uncertain whether the performance of the web services will be on par with the performance of C/Front in older versions of Jet, but it should improve considerably from what it is today in Jet 2012 R2.
