Hi -
I have a few assumptions (please clarify) and then a couple of questions.
Assumption #1: You are using the desktop (not Web) edition of Office 2013. Correct?
Assumption #2: You are attempting to install the 64-bit edition of Jet Essentials 2012 R2:
Correct?
Now for the questions:
What issue are you experiencing when you attempt your install?
Do you experience the same issue when installing the latest release (Essentials 2015 - http://jetreports.com/download/)?
Thanks.

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi folks - first time poster so please be kind.
I've been having real issues over the past week trying to install Jet Essentials 12.5.13072 on to x64 Office 365. 64bit Office is now our default install.
I've downloaded the latest installer.
I've uninstalled the Office Click to Run Installer and removed the appropriate registry keys
The bitness of Outlook is correct (there is no Office 12 section with the registry so no previous version of an Outlook folder to rename).
I have spent too many hours with this over the past week so am desperate for a solution. One work around that I have found is to downgrade Office 365 to 32 bit, with is something I'm loathed to do every time.
Has anyone had any success installing the 64bit version of Jet Essentials with Office 365?
Any help gratefully received. -
Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi - thanks for your reply.
We're using Office 365 on the E3 plan. Office is installed on each PC via a download from Office 365 using the Office Deployment Tool, so Excel 2013 64 bit is installed in the individual PCs.
I have got the 64 bit version to install before using the methods above but that was volume license for Office 2013 rather the 365 licensed version.
The version of Jet Essentials I'm trying to install is 12.5.13072.0
The issue I'm having is that the install does not recognise the 64bit environment on my Windows 7 PCs. I'm getting the error message "The platform of the Jet installation is not compatible. Please ensure that the target platform of the installation (x86 or x64) matches the installed version of Microsoft Excel"
Funnily enough, it will install in W8.1 ok. Hopefully there is a simple change to something in the registry.
If I attempt 12.5.13162.0 and it installs, will reports produced in the lower version still be able to be viewed?
Sorry, I'm finding my way through this as I go. -
Jet Reports Historic Posts Thanks for the confirmation.
To answer your last question, every effort is always made to ensure that each version of Jet Essentials maintains backward compatibility with reports created with prior releases. So, I would not expect you to have any report-related issues with the any of the 20 releases of Jet Essentials (2012 R2, 2013, 2013 Update 1, or 2015) that have been released since the version you are working with.
I would *not* suggest upgrading as an effort to avoid this installation issue, as the installation process is largely the same for each version of Jet Essentials.
From your original post, it sounds like you may have already read this article in the Jet Reports Knowledgebase –> http://kb.jetreports.com/article/AA-00807
However, I didn't fully understand your comment: "The bitness of Outlook is correct (there is no Office 12 section with the registry so no previous version of an Outlook folder to rename)"
I assume from your comment that you have been able to confirm Outlook 2013's bitness setting in the Windows Registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Bitness).
Let's start there… Could you include a screen shot of that?

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi
Few screen shots below should clarify my ramblings;
Error;
Curver;
Office, Outlook, Bitness
Hope that helps. -
Jet Reports Historic Posts Thanks!
Going back to something I asked earlier, do you experience the same issue when installing the latest release (Essentials 2015 -http://jetreports.com/download/)? -
Jet Reports Historic Posts It has installed, however, my joy was short lived. I'm now getting a VB runtime error when opening Excel (Jet has been activated with admin privileges).
The only way to kill the message is to end task. Deactivating Jet throws up the same error but hitting End twice clears it and the deactivation is completed. Excel then opens ok again. -
Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi.
This error is normally related to the a past version of software being installed.
Jet has a knowledgebase article on this: http://kb.jetreports.com/article/AA-00516/0/Error-429-ActiveX-component-cant-create-object.html
Jet should run on Office 365 without any problem.
Hope this helps. -
Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi - thanks for all your help so far. I've been working off site for a few weeks so haven't had a chance to look further into this.
The KB article suggested that it's a problem with bitness which we've already established isn't the case. It suggests that the issue is solved with an upgrade to Jet Essentials 2015. If we were to upgrade, do you if we need to upgrade to 2015 for all of our existing installs and purchase the necessary licences? -
Jet Reports Historic Posts Just had a bit of a read; looks like we would have to upgrade all installs. Will have to contact our re-seller too.
At a bit of a standstill (though the downgrade to 32 bit is an option, not one I'm keen on, but an option nonetheless)
Thanks for all your help.
