Hello all,
I have a report, that I did not design, that opens the printer setup dialog box when it is opened on a remote computer. We sometimes use a VM running Windows Server 2008 R2 for running larger reports. The report does not open this dialog box when the report is opened locally and other reports opened on the VM do not get the dialog box to open.
A user will have to click OK or cancel about a dozen times before it goes away.
Any thoughts on why this is happening or what I can do to stop it?
Thanks,
Tim

Jet Reports Historic Posts Here are a couple of possibilities that I found:
Possibility 1:
If you have printer related items in your sheet (e.g. the page breaks are visible), Excel requires a default printer to be 'reachable'. If you have set your default printer to a network printer, you will then get this error if the printer is not available.
Because of this random issue it is recommended to use as default printer a LOCAL printer connected via USB or a virtual printer such as XPS.
Possibility 2:
In the case that at least one of the sheets in your workbook has been saved with the "Page Break Preview":
this may cause the error in subject since in Page Break Preview the Excel will automatically search for a printer. If the printer is down, not reachable etc., it will cause the Page Setup pop-up. You should change it to normal mode for all worksheets within the workbook: -
Kyle Nunnelley I work in an enterprise environment and I have done both of these resolutions and while P1 is a great workaround, it's not viable for an enterprise environment. P2 works for regular shared excels but not for macro-enabled shared excels. Is there a resolution for that?
