Speedingup running multiple reports using Scheduler

I run around 70 jet reports on the first day of each month, could anyone advise the most efficient way of running them?

 

At the moment, they are divided into 7 folders, one for each sales person which are then sent out by email,

Each manager has a folder which contains their individual reports and I have set the schedule to start each folder at hourly intervals. the whole process takes around 12 hours to complete.

My main question is, would there be a more efficient way of scheduling the reports? for example could I run them on separate computers to share the load? or would putting all reports in one folder help?

ideally I would like to shorten the runtime by half in order for the finance department to run their month end schedules (once they start the server slows to a crawl)

any suggestions would be welcome

  Hello Simon -

  I think you have hit on the best solution when you asked about running "them on separate computers to share the load".  Having all the reports on a single machine is great for change control, but by splitting between two or more machines, you would be able to get things done in parallel.

  Thanks for your reply, sadly I don't think it made an improvement..

  I tried running the reports in Parallel, but there was little difference, a single report can run ion it's own I

  n less than 10 minutes, however running  two or more schedules seems to slow the whole thing down to a crawl.

  I started running the reports each starting on alternating machines at 15 minute intervals:

                                       Start    First report received

  Folder 1 Machine 1       11:30       11:38.

  Folder 2 Machine 2       11:45       11:54

  Folder 3 Machine 1       12:00       12:17

  Folder 4 Machine 2       12:15       12:51

  Folder 5 Machine 1       12:30       13:17

  Folder 6 Machine 2       12:45      Still waiting as at 14:34

  All folders contain multiple copies of the same report
