I am trying to create a report to show a detail trial balance for GL. I have a basic setup but can't figure out how to suppress applied entries based on a datefilter.
For example, I would like to run the report till Jan 31, 2018 and suppress entries fully applied before this date. Items with a remaining amount should show up with this amount.
Any help is appreciated.

Since no one else has commented, I'll throw in what little I can.
If you are using Dynamics NAV, this should be possible. It would be a matter of finding the amounts applied (up to a particular date), summing them up, and subtracting that sum from the account balance as of that same date.
I do not have that level of expertise (if I had to do this, I'd have to get in touch with Jet's consultants).

I am not sure how you are defining 'Applied Entries' is this from the Sales and Purchase Ledgers?
If so setup a filter on the options tab for find the Sales & Purchase ledgers fining only open documents from these ledgers returning the document number. you can then join this into a filter using the NP Union function and use this to filet the documents in the GL entries

Thanks for trying to help me! The report i would like to create just runs against the GL Ledger Entry table. No subledger is involved.
What I would like to achieve is to create a list of open entries of a specific GL Account on a reporting date in the past (most of the time the previous month end). This should match the balance to date of the GL Account at the same reporting date.
