Hi its Friday and my brain is not working at all, I am trying to get Rows of account numbers using segments in GL function. I was wondering how i can add a condition where it returns only active account numbers which can be found in active column of GL00100 table.
this is the formula that i have to return the account numbers using segments
=GL("Rows","Accounts",,,,,$C15,$D15,$E15,,,,,,,,,,,,,"ABCD","ABC")
which will return this.

Your function appears correct (depending, of course, on the contents of C15, D15, and E15).
Here I have recreated your function:
When I run the report...
the results will return all of my accounts.
If I change the contents of columns C, D, and E...
I only get those accounts which match all of my criteria (segment 1 between 000 and 999, segment 2 between 1300 and 1390, and segment 3 between 02 and 05)
If I wanted to further filter by the Active field in table GL00100, I would probably use an NL(Rows) function instead of a GL(Rows) function. Then, I could use the additional filters available in that function:
and I could use the NF() function to return my segments.

Larry I am unable to use the NF() Function to return my segments because I will have to specify which filed to get the information from. is it possible to use a nested GL function with a NL function? (I have never used nested functions) the question might be stupid but I am very new to Jet and have pretty much taught myself all these things.

Yes, it would be possible to nest GL and NL function (something referred to as a "Grouping" report).
