Override Data Type Not Working

I have tried setting a data type override on a field in my data source based on this KB article but I can't seem to get it working.  The source field is type text with fixed length of 60 and I have set an override rule to change it to variable length, but after I deploy/execute the table, the field in my staging database table still shows as fixed length.  Has anyone else successfully used this feature?

  Yes, I've done this before without a problem.  Did you Synchronize your data source after overriding the datatype?

  Thank you David, that was the step I was missing!  It wasn't clear in the KB article in the Override section that the Sync step was required after setting up the override rules.  It's working now.
