Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi Rene -
There is not currently a tutorial video for the Jet Function Wizard. Great idea!
I'll pass that along to the tutorial folks.

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi Rene,
Were there any particular questions you had about using the Jfx that we can help you with?

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi thank you for your reply!
Well to be honestly, (these are “my feelings only” = it isn’t possible for a typical end user to understand and use this feature without a tutorial or documentation.
I think I am not a typical end user and I not really was able to use these set of functionality….(I understand the concept and idea, and try to analyze the sample reports .. but HOW to use it ..? ) For me it seems like it could be a very flexible feature ….. when there will some kind of documentation …
So only one specific question: “Can you please create a sample video (with link tables and fields!) or a documentation ”

Rene
PS Just finishing his independent evaluation of jet reports express for a Dynamics Community presenation

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi,
Have you tried reading thoroughly the Jet Help?
This is how I learned JetReports - but, in my opinion the older versions of JetReports had a better structured and exemplified Help document.
Good luck!

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi Rene,
The functions that are included with the JFx in Jet Express are all functions which support the Table Buider feature. Their purpose is to allow experienced users the ability to modify reports which were originally created using the Table Builder feature.
These functions aren't intended to be used to create completely new reports - and would be very difficult to use for this. It's possible, but extremely challenging and not recommended - it's much easier to use the Table Builder feature.
To go on- The JFx includes 5 functions. Only one of them, the NL(Table) function, returns data. The other four functions (Link, Linksum, LinkField and FlowField) create strings which are used by the NL(Table) function to define the data that is returned.
Link - returns a string that defines the linking between two tables (e.g. between the Base Table and a Related Table).
Linksum - returns a string that specifies a field on a related table that should be summed
Linkfield - returns a string that specifies a field on a related table that should be returned
Flowfield - returns a string that specifies a flowfield on the base table.

Jet Reports Historic Posts Thank you very much for your explanation
I will go through these and mention it in the Q+A section in my presentation.
(It is already recorded… so I can’t include it any longer in the presentation itself)
Anyway it is great that you are so interested in getting feedback and your reply in this time!
I received your other message too! Great ad thank you! I will reply to you tomorrow!
I just want to answer in this thread because I am not the one who is writing questions and then not giving a response

Rene
