I was trying to install Jet reports express at a customer yesterday and I had an issue connecting to the database. Their details:
Version: NAV 2009 SP1
Database :SQL 2008
In the DATA SOURCE settings:
1. I pointed the Dynamics NAV Client folder to classic, I selected the ENU Language
2. Authentication set to Windows Authentication
3. Server type = MS SQL Server
4. Entered Server name
5. Entered Database name
6. Selected DEFAULT as the NET type (Point 4-6 was copied from the database information in NAV)
I was then expecting to select a company. The drop down box was blank!!
I tried the Test Connection and received an error that the licence file was not present in the finsql.exe folder, I added this and still got the same error.
Please help
Thanks

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi Paddy,
Please make sure that the license is named fin.flf in the Client folder. If it is named anything other than that, Jet Express will not recognize it. -
Jet Reports Historic Posts That will be the issue because the licence file was not named fin.flf.
thanks

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi SJ -
Sorry for the delay in responding to you. For future reference, it is best to create a new thread when asking a question - especially when the existing thread is marked as [RESOLVED].
The client folder is where ever the NAV2009 Classic Client is installed. Typically, this is in a location such as C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Classic.
You will have to examine your system to know for sure.
The FIN.FLF file is a copy of the NAV license file. If you have sufficient permissions with in NAV, you can export this file or you can contact your System Admin to get a copy.
