I am trying to search for information on the GL Function but am not able to because 'gl' and 'function' are too common, so says the error returned by the forum search tool. Can anyone point me to some information on the following:
What is the first parameter of the GL Function refering to? The options appear to be; Balance, Budget, Debits, Credits, Quantity. Are these values from a specific field within the GL table?
I am using Serenic Navision v4.0.

The information you're after is all in the help files. In Excel, go to 'Jet', then 'Help. Under 'Reference' is a detailed description of all the functions and the parameters for them. I personally have never used the GL functions, so somebody else may be able to help you with more specific questions about those functions.
