Why is this such a pain? Every time I build a new report that requires this, it doesn't seem to get any easier, and I end up troubleshooting it for a long while before it suddenly works, like magic.
I am hoping to hear from other people as to their experiences with Sorting by Sum. Is it me? Does this confuse the hell out of anyone else?
Does the Jet team have any input on this? Will there be a way to make sorting more flexible in future releases?

I agree that sorting by sum is quite difficult for most Jet users (in Nav at least; because of the nature of SQL, it's much easier in universal). If you have any recommendations or suggestions for a simpler syntax for it, feel free to make them on the Suggestions and Feature Requests board. Because I don't think there are a lot of people who need it, it's never been a high priority to make it easier to use, but if we had enough requests for improvements in it, I'm sure we would look into it.

Thanks for the reply. Typically I find it easier to simply sort the report once it had completed calculating, and have expressed to those whom the reports get distributed to that an excel sort provides better flexibility. I generally run into problems with sort by sum, when it needs to sort a sum that uses multiple linked tables, an as you mentioned, it is almost always a syntax error. I don't know how I would go about improving the syntax. Generally, as is typical with these kinds of issues, the problems generally lie with the end user. It would be excellent however if it would be possible to add some type of Sort functionality into the Jfx or in an option somewhere.
