Hello all,
Can anyone please tell me if there is a way of stopping the Jet Reports Scheduler deleting the first row and column of my reports? It happens when I select "Values Only Workbook" for the "Output Format". I believe that it is doing so due to the "Auto+Hide" contained in cell A1. I have played around with removing "Auto+Hide" from my reports, which seems to work. However, whenever I hit "Report" or "Refresh" Jet Reports inserts a new column and row to contain "Auto+Hide".
My problem is that users don't always use the scheduler to run reports. So other files that link to the output files are sometimes out by a column & row with their references.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I can't find a solution in Jet Reports help or on these boards anywhere. Thank you.
I'm using Excel 2003 SP3 (11.8328.8329) and Jet Reports version 9.2.10167.0 running on MS Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition 5.2.3790 SP2 Build 3790
Kind regards,
Mick

Jet Reports Historic Posts Mick,
I am not quite sure I understand your question. Do you want Jet not to reserve the first line and first column? That's just how it works. The first line and first column are always reserved when using Jet Reports.
What is the problem creating a report for instance starting in cell C5?
If you are using references to cells directly, you should consider naming the cells so you can use its value anywhere in your worksheet or in other worksheets.

Jet Reports Historic Posts Thanks for your reply Richard.
I don't mind that Jet Reports reserves the first row & column. My problem occurs when the scheduler deletes this row & column when I run it to create values only workbooks.
If I start my report in cell C5 like you suggest, after running the scheduler, column A & row 1 are deleted. This leaves the report to begin in cell B4.
Our users don't use the scheduler 100% of the time, so in this example the report will sometimes start in B4 and sometimes in C5. That's when their links become incorrect.
If it was just a few cells that they were linking to then I could perhaps convince them to use names like you suggest. However I'm not sure how that would work logistically when linking to hundreds of individual cells. They're not very keen on using names in Excel, let alone hundreds of them!
Is there any way around the automatic deletion that the scheduler is doing? -
Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi Mick,
This behavior was originally added by design, but several users have complained about it, so in the next release of Jet Reports, it will no longer do this. The next version is currently in beta. If you want to be added to the list of beta users, e-mail jetbeta@jetreports.com and you can sign up and get access to the beta.
