My colleague had a problem today when she wanted to test a report I've made.
When she opened the Excel file, all the Jet functions were grey (disabled) except for the settings-buttons. She is also a designer and has full rights. When I've checked the Data Source Settings everything seemed fine and when I've clicked the Test Connection button I've received the successful message, although the the colored button on the bottom stayed red…
The Jet functions became active after opening NAV and the concerning database, although my colleague had a connecting to our network and to the database. I thought it was not necessary to have your database running while working with Jet?
Does anyone else also had this problem? Anyone an idea what went wrong here?
Another problem I've also noticed with Jet is that when you close Excel but Excel still keeps running as process on the background and then you open a report, the Jet button does not appear. It's no problem to open the Task Manager en kill the process and then open your report but it would be nice if the Jet button would not disappear off course. ;)
Should I submit a ticket for this problem?

You shouldn't have to have NAV open in order to use Jet. I'm not sure what was going on here, but if it happen again, you should click the link in the Data Source Settings next to the Red orb which says something like "You are licensed as a ____". Generally when the orb is red it means you are not licensed to use Jet, but I have no idea why your user wouldn't be licensed and then all of a sudden they become licensed. This forum is really for helping people use Jet; issues like the one you are describing should be reported to Jet Reports support rather than this forum.
Why would Excel be running in the background after you close it? This isn't generally something that Jet does. Do you have some other program or addin causing the Excel process not to close? Once again, this is not really an issue for this forum; it's more something you should create a ticket with Jet Reports support on.
