Thanks Sarah,
That's just as I thought. Its strange that you get penalized for upgrading.
I still need to work out the best way using the different licences.

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hi,
We've just upgraded to Essentials through our Nav partner but they have failed to provide any information on how the upgrade affects us.
As we have one designer there are connotations that I think I know the answer to, but just want to check. So can anyone help with the following questions please?
1, If we upgrade all our users to Jet Essentials Viewers do they loose the ability to write and edit Jet Express reports?
2, If we leave the users on Jet Express will they not be able to run Jet Essentials reports?
3, If the Jet Essentials License is linked to the Domain User can they use it on Multiple PC's if no more than one instance is running?
Regards Chris

Jet Reports Historic Posts Hello Chris,
I should start by saying you can only have one version installed on a machine (Jet Essentials or Jet Express) not both. You can have some users running Jet Express and others running Jet Essentials though there are some issues with that. Below are my answers to your questions.
1. If you upgrade your Jet Express users to Jet Essentials Viewers, they will not be able to build or edit reports.
2. Jet Express doesn't have all of the functionality of Jet Essentials. This means that Jet Express users will not be able to run all Jet Essentials reports - but they can run some. If the reports only use Jet Express functionality, your Jet Express users will be able to run them. Remember that Jet Express allows users to use the Table Builder and the GL() function.
3. Yes. I have a laptop where Jet Essentials is installed. I am also able to log into our terminal server and use Jet Essentials there. Since I am a Designer, I get to use Jet Essentials on all of my machines.
I hope this helps!
