how to summarise G/L entry by month

hi,
try to run a JET report to summary all G/L entry by month by dimensions, so that i can prepare a P&L with 12 month timeline for all dimensions.

can anyone help?

  thanks for your reply.
  
  what I need is to create a data table with Month, G/L Acc#, G/L Name, Amount, and Dimension 1, 2, and 3.
  the amount should be grouped by Dimension and by month
  
  after this table is created, I can then pivot table to rearrange the data the way I need.
  what i am currently doing is retrieve every single transaction by date and dimensioins, which is very slow(over 10mins) also made Excel file very big(for a whole year data, it could be over 10MB).
  
  I am think if there is anyway that we can reduce the size of file first, and run report a bit faster.
  I Don't really need Posting Date. instead, Month should be enough for me to use the timeline feature (pivottable).
  But i don't know how to retrieve data without using posting date but posting month. as each transaction might have different dimensions attached.
