Grouping (use "rows=n")

I have a simple report which works just fine but need to group the results by "Item No" - I may need to use "rows=n" but have never used the function. The main formula is like this: =NL("Rows","BOM Component",,"Parent Item No.",$J$2,"Type","Item") - can anyone advise how to amend this to prevent a new row being formed for each "Item No" and group the like Items instead?
