It seems that recently my reports have been running correctly for a few days and then randomly take a long time to load and then freeze. I have to use Task Manager to close them. I have uninstalled both Jet Reports and Excel many times which seems to work sometimes but not always.
My run times have also increase from about 22 min average to 57 min. My parent company is in Seattle and I am in Denver.
Do you use a VPN? Has anything changed on your system lately?
CascadiaDataworks, yes we do. We haven't had any change in the system outside of asking the report to spit more data (added a column in excel). Issue started around 12/22 and I just recently saw that Jet had a patch around that time.
Could these be reasons to the issue?
Unsure about the update to Jet causing issues, but is possible. You could always roll back your version of Jet to see if the previous version used has the same issues of timing.
That said, if you added a column, depending on the function you added, that can also have a significant impact. I've seen instances where one query could add anywhere from a couple minutes to a couple hours.
What is the new column query you added?
I will talk to my supervisor about rolling it back to give it a try.
We added "PO/Quote No". to the report.
What is the actual function? Example: NL("First","Sales Header","PO/Quote No.", "Customer No.", E4)
An NF should have almost no impact, an NL("First") can have a solid impact depending on the number of rows in the report, and a function that does not follow best practices can have a serious impact.
