I am trying to connect Power BI to my Jet Enterprise OLAP cubes but encountering an error when connecting.
The error I get is "This data source does not support exploring with a live connection."
We have a SQL 2012 R2 SP4 database.

David Zebrowitz What edition of SQL 2012 R2 are you running? Standard Edition?
There seems to be conflicting information out on the web about what versions / editions of SQL are required, but I remember that Standard Edition SSAS MD Live Connections were only recently supported with SQL 2014 or 2016.

Unless you are running BI or Enterprise Edition of SQL 2012, you may need to upgrade to a newer version of SSAS. This is really a Microsoft PowerBI limitation.
