Jet Web Portal Sharing options

Hi,

I'm running a Jet Web Portal scenario where all users configured through the Jet Administration Console should not know about each other.

Therefore I created one Data Source per user and assigned it to the user.

My issue is that when I upload a report, then click on "Share", I can still see all other users.

I was expecting to only be able to share a report to the users who have access to the Data Source I selected when importing the report.

Do you know if this scenario is feasible?

  Hello Cristian -

  If I understand correctly, you are wanting to use the Web Portal solely for personal report storage for each user.

  While that is definitely not what the product was designed to do, it's an intriguing concept.  That could be accomplished if there were a mechanism to disable the Sharing feature.

  If you feel that such a feature would be beneficial to the Jet community, as a whole, I would encourage you to submit a feature request using the Give Feedback button to the right of this screen...

  Hi Harry,

   

  As JetReports is available on a subscription basis, I am testing if the Jet Web Portal could be deployed on a shared environment.

  Therefore we would need to group users by Data Sources (i.e. one NAV Data Source & 1 Cube per client).

  Then there's another issue where we would need to be able to manage different Activation Codes/Licences on the Jet Web Portal. The Console Administration should be managed by the JetReports Partner, then the Licence should be shared maybe within each Data Source to be able to manage several clients.

  If you have any example of how your partners manage this issue I'm more than happy to hear :) As of today, JetReports can only be run remotely from their own PC by each of our clients.

  Hi Cristian -

  I know that multi-tenancy is being investigated.

  I believe that in one of the upcoming presentations of the Jet Reports Success Webinar Series, Brian Petersen (VP of Product) will be discussing the Product Roadmap.

  You might tune in and ask your question.
